Cleaning (44)

Does anybody else have some cleaning to do? I used to live in squalor so whenever things get a little messy I tend to panic and worry about going back to my old ways. Recently, however, my current room (different from the cesspool, which still isn't clean) is getting messy because I haven't had garbage bags for a week or so.

2 Name: Anonymage : 2015-10-19 22:44 [Del]

My room is a complete mess. Clothes everywhere, I am not even sure what is clean or what is dirty. The smell of balls has penetrated the carpet and to make this room smell fresh again I am going to have to put some deodorizer on the carpet and spray down everything.

3 Name: Anonymage : 2015-10-19 22:47 [Del]

Clothes shouldn't be too much of an issue, right? I have lots of garbage which I consider more of a problem. Clothes and smell seems like a fun and manageable project though.

I'm a huge hypocrite, really...

I managed to fill up an entire garbage bag. I wish I had two or three more.

I clean every week because I have to, otherwise I get yelled at when the house is vacuumed. It's nice though to have it clean, even though it always reverts to a mess after a week.

I want to clean out my closet. It's filled with old clothes, toys, and school supplies from nearly ten years ago. But there are spiders in there too, the brown recluse kind. I could literally die. Think about that. I could die, I could meet my end, I would cease to exist forever and all eternity. Can you even begin to comprehend what that means?

I want to clean it out and make it a shrine to my waifu.

>>6 Take it slow, one piece at a time so you can look for spiders. If they are in your closet, they could come out at any time. So it's not just cleaning your closet that is dangerous. Aren't spiders most active at night, in the dark? You could literally Die In Your Sleep. Better to deal with the spiders by you finding them first.

When I lived with my mom my room was always dirty. I'm not talking about general clothes-on-the-floor dirty. There were cockroaches, piss bottles, moldy food, dirty clothes and anything you could probably imagine surrounding my room. I never felt the need to clean since I was extremely depressed because of her and my older sister. They would constantly loud-mouth me and always complain about the most trivial shit. The house altogether was a complete shithole completely infested with roaches, maggots, gnats and mice. Even a fucking possum or two would come in the house like it was it's habitat.

Eventually my dad got custody of just me (my manipulative mom practically forced my younger sister and brother to stay with her). I've lived with him for years now and I haven't had problems cleaning since then.

I did it. I found no spiders, but I found some webs with dozens of dead rollie pollies in them. Either a spider abandoned his home, or he was out hunting and is coming back.

>>9 Nice job. So did you make your waifu shrine??

I need to clean my room.
I will do it tomorrow.

I'm not that attached to what I own. If I don't need it, I get rid of it.
This leaves me with a room that looks like I just moved in. Closet empty but for a couple sets of clothing, desk only has the computer on it and nothing else, completely clean all around.

I imagine if I ever moved out, I could pack everything that I own except for the computer in a single suitcase.

I want to completely redo my room, get rid of most of my bulky and useless furniture, replacing it with smaller furniture. Maybe put in some plants, and get softer lighting. Move my bed, get rid of the litter boxes.

But I just can't do it. I don't know how to get rid of the big furniture, I can't just put it outside. I don't have a truck. Plus, under my bed and behind my chest of drawers is literally 10 years worth of dust and trash. There could be spiders and other things for all I know. And my mom doesn't want the litter boxes anywhere else, and the cats are so used to them in my room, they'd shit everywhere if I moved them.

Plus every time I do any work, my mom gets stressed out, cries, and tells me to stop.

My room is impossible to clean due to the huge amount of stuff I have and the small space I have to store it. Even when it's clean and organized it doesn't feel comfortable, it's cluttered. I need to get rid of a lot of things but just thinking about picking and choosing what should go away gives me a headache.

I should have only my bed, a small closet for the dozen or so pieces of clothing I have, a table for the computer and a chair. Instead I have;

>about 50 or so books I either already read or I'm not going to read ever
>two vcr (do people even know what this is anymore?)
>clothing piled up to a corner on a chair
>a lot of junk in all the shelves of my table and closet (the books are inside the closet as well)
>small cabinet filled with all types of shit, pens, legos, paper, blank DVDs, old cables

I'll think about it tomorrow.

I live where there are no brown recluse just lots of WOLF SPIDERS

16 Name: Anonymage : 2015-12-27 09:14 [Del]

No spiders thankfully, but I've seen several cockroaches (one massive in size) and a mouse in my room. This is all because I left food and clothes lying around on the floor and now its summer. I should clean my room once a year before summer.

There is a room in the back of my house which is like something from a hoarders t.v show and has all sorts of trash in it. On the walls are heaps of daddy long leg spiders (harmless, and they keep other more dangerous spiders away) I think there are probably mice hiding in there too. I'm too scared to clean that room.

My basement lair is in constant disorder, but I strictly avoid letting foodstuffs stay. There are clothes, empty boxes, unused furniture, and blankets everywhere. The cat brought in a mouse a while ago and I tried to toss him out but now he's living down here with me. I motioned to put some stuff in the half-height portion of the basement, but the cellar spiders and crunchy centipedes have taken over. I'm the worst kind of arachnophobic so even when they're dead, I can't go anywhere near them.

>The cat brought in a mouse a while ago and I tried to toss him out but now he's living down here with me.

Who, the cat or the mouse?

19 Name: Anonymage : 2016-01-03 11:23 [Del]

The mouse. My cat has since killed the mouse.

I don't understand my room can get so messy so quickly, I feel like I just cleaned it last week

21 Name: Anonymage : 2016-01-15 09:51 [Del]

Gotta take it a step at a time. Don't say "I'll clean my room today". You'll never do it. Instead, when you're idle, pick up something and throw it away. Eventually it'll go away.

22 Name: Anonymage : 2016-01-19 14:04 [Del]

I try to keep things tidy, I always enjoy it and it feels really good to have cleaned. but when I'm not feeling great it just piles up and becomes a lot of work.

23 Name: Anonymage : 2016-03-08 09:12 [Del]

we should start a wizchan warehouse. virtual. it might be interesting to see what we have in common. gaming magazines, toys, videogames, computers, et. cetera. We all all know cleaning ends or begins with playing with your stuff you forgot you had.

Last week my desk was covered with all kinds of garbage (including food remains) to a meme-tier height.
I cleaned up my dorm room again, but it's small and full of crap. My closet smells like mold for the the last 2 months, so all my clothes are on a second desk and a chair.
On top of that, the floor is covered with a disintegrating plastic-tile thing, with mold growing between the tiles and broken tile pieces on the floor. Also part of the wall is just exposed concrete because I had to scrape off the stock because it was the growth medium for mold. The place is a fucking shithole, but hey, it's free. I just hope I didn't damage my health from all this mold.

25 Name: Anonymage : 2016-05-04 23:31 [Del]

I clean fairly regularly. My room used to be full of crap and what I did is throw away a bag or two of things at a time, and over months it became manageable.
I recommend portioning the tasks, instead of a more gradual approach. Take a small patch and say you'll clean that small patch. Clean your desk one day.
Never the whole room at once.
I'd say that the first big goal should be to clear the floor. The floor is important to a feeling that the room is clean, and it gives you something to hoover. Regular hoovering keeps the floor clear because it has to be clear for a hoovering, it becomes like a minimum standard.
As for clutter- get a hacksaw. Big items can be cut into pieces and thrown in the general rubbish.
Overall though your goal should be to clear a path to your storage pieces (closets, drawers, wardrobes, shelving) and clear them out first. That's where your OLD stuff is. It's where the stuff easiest to throw out is. Clear them out and then you can put objects you really care about in there.

Don't eat in your room. Really. Food remains are the worst. Dampness is extremely damaging. Things should be dry.

As for me, I've spent the past few years doing large amounts of cleaning in a house that was full of clutter and rubbish. Many hundreds of bags of junk have vanished, including old scribbles and paint creations that I'd made when I was 3 years old. Emotional attachment to clutter holds you back. If you must, take samples and keep specific items as an example.

I have an extremely small room. It's 12x8ft and inside I have a chair, table with one pc and one laptop on it, a bed, a small hack where I keep my clothing, an old vhs and two boxes filled with bric-a-brac, 3 other boxes with books. It's imperative I keep clutter to a minimum otherwise I literally have no space even to get in and get out of the room. Even at its most organized state it still looks messy since everything is exposed or in boxes. I need to get rid of half the stuff I have so this place begins to look half decent.

Until recently it was even worse since I had Legos and small toys gathering dust and a lot of things were just pilled up in a corner. This was before I got the storage boxes. The best I can say is I don't eat in my room so there's no bugs or anything like that.

My room is small and used by grandpa and grandma to make sex 50+ years ago. Its full of closets and drawers that are very old, a lot of dust, and used stuff, not even my stuff, but I can't get rid of it because other rooms are full of fucking garbage too.
I'm usually ask my mother to clean the room, its very messy and old, by just sitting in front of PC I pretend I don't notice it.

28 Name: Anonymage : 2016-05-23 17:09 [Del]

I always clean my room about once a week. This just includes sweeping, cleaning the dust off of everything(there really aren't too many surfaces in my room that collect dust), and washing my sheets(comforter is washed ever other week I think). After I remove my sheets I spray down the mattress and pillows with disinfectant spray just to keep things smelling fresh. The only way I'm able to tell a week has passed is that all of my clothes have become dirty and I have to wash them because I don't really keep track of the date.

How to get energy and remove hate, to do things like you do?

30 Name: Anonymage : 2016-08-03 15:57 [Del]

I tossed a bunch of stuff on my floor with the expectation of cleaning/organizing it a few days later, it has been there for over a month and the pile and the messiness has spread like an infection. Think this is the worst it's been, I don't clean much but I normally at least try to keep the mess "neat" and contained, but once you say fuck it and just toss stuff anywhere it's easy to keep doing it. Room looks like a tornado went through it

31 Name: Anonymage : 2016-08-06 14:58 [Del]

My room is a fucking mess.
I wanted to sleep on the floor so I put a bunch of bedding on the ground and now its there like 2 weeks. On top of this I moved my actual mattress of my mattress holder thing and placed that on the ground as well. I hate being too high off the ground, its just annoying.
I just want to throw everything in my room out except my small table and bed sheets on the ground.

32 Name: Anonymage : 2016-08-25 17:30 [Del]

I usually don't clean until things get so bad I can't stand it anymore. And my cleanliness standards are fairly low. The bathroom in the house that is close to my room is probably the most neglected room. When I'm in there, I have a night light on most of the time, so I can't see the dirt.
But today I cleaned the sink. I can't remember the last time I did that.

33 Name: Anonymage : 2017-06-10 14:01 [Del]

Lethal spiders are really rare, there's like half a dozen in the world, a dozen if you're sick or elderly or a child.

34 Name: Anonymage : 2017-06-11 09:15 [Del]

I have a glass top desk for my PC. Since I got it last year I've been wiping my boogers onto a specific corner. Yesterday I decided to actually clean the whole desk. Took a lot of scraping to get that corner clean.
Cleaned my bathroom recently too because my shower has been slowly clogging up. I was standing in water above my ankles

35 Name: Anonymage : 2017-11-16 17:17 [Del]

I have over 600 books in my room and I can't take it anymore. It almost feels like I'm drowning. I would love to get rid of all this paper but the thought of dealing with it always makes me tolerate for another day, then week, then a month. It's going to be 2018 pretty soon and yet these books are still here, cluttering all corners in my room. Some of these are worth a fair amount of cash but then again I would need to clean it, take pictures and put up for sale somewhere. I wish I didn't spend a decade disliking e-readers for no good reason other than nostalgia.

36 Name: Anonymage : 2017-12-01 03:08 [Del]

Yeah, I live in a pile of trash because I'm extremely depressed. Maybe someday it will grow large enough to crush me under its weight.

37 Name: Anonymage : 2017-12-11 23:56 [Del]

Couple days ago I managed to arrange every single one of my possessions in a pair of medium-sized drawers. I need to get rid of more stuff. Like books and old clothing. I need to reach the single drawer.

38 Name: Anonymage : 2019-02-01 03:51 [Del]

Hundreds of pissbottles, pints to gallons, encircling my jizz stained pine green office chair. At least, before I cleaned it. I never want to return to that again. In general my house has improved but nothing is where I want it to be. There is still mold on the ceilings, hundreds of dishes walling the pipes beneath the sink and some dotting the lawn, cat shit in the most difficult to reach places (FUCK you Pouncy stupid SHIT cat)

39 Name: Anonymage : 2019-02-13 15:05 [Del]

you have dishes on your lawn? what the fuck kind of backwoods hick mountain hillbilly shit is that?
and i thought having half my floor covered in clothes was bad

40 Name: Anonymage : 2019-02-21 17:57 [Del]

I clean my room two times per week and our small flat one time per week. I am obsessed with cleaning, disinfection and dust. This is exhausting and I'm very often nervous about it but got used to it more or less. Despite cleaning I still can't touch things outside of my room, using gloves.

41 Name: Anonymage : 2019-03-10 07:22 [Del]

I scrubbed my bedroom ceiling with bleach today. There was a leak last year and I learned yesterday that bleach could rid the brown and yellow stains from water damage. Now the constant reminder of a failing roof is gone.

Whatever he's doing, it can get that way if you have outdoor cats being fed since they will knock the dishes into the brush.

There is always cleaning to do, but I don't have the willpower for it. Maybe there will be a burst of energy soon.
