I am Voyager. (8)

To dream and imagine this will be my new goal for the upcoming months. I've come across this picture twice this week; http://tinyurl.com/7jyxv4x. They call it pale blue dot. That white pixel is Earth. I had seen it before but never gave it much though until now. Suddenly I'm finding great pleasure to read about Voyager 1 and looking at the pictures it took from the solar system. http://tinyurl.com/he99yjx. Recently the probe left the solar system and will continue to study and be alive for another 10 to 20 years, when its power supply will finally run out after 50+ years of activity.

I like to imagine Voyager 1 developing a consciousness and suddenly waking up and feeling cold, remembering of its birth on Earth, looking back and seeing nothing. Traveling through empty space. In 300 years it will enter the so called Oort cloud and it will take 30.000 years to get out of it. Imagine if a living creature could do that. It would be built to endure all the cold, solitude and silence of space. It would have a completely difference brain structure to not develop some sort of insanity by these circumstances. That's where I come in.

In my dream, my weird pleasure for isolation and silence would be isolated and enhanced to the greatest degree. These characteristics would be used to give birth to a third Voyager, this one would have consciousness and could live a lot longer than its pure mechanical brothers, Voyager 1 and 2. Then they would put this being into orbit, equipped not only with consciousness but with Ion drive propellers, allowing to reach Proxima Centauri in 80.000 years, not to land there, but simply to pass by and take pictures (to send to whom? Will humans endure that long?). The real goal of Voyager 3 would be to float forever, having secrets thoughts no other living thing could ever have.
I like to imagine what thoughts would evolve from a Voyager 3, 700 millions years into the future, having seen maybe even alien life.

Also itt weird thoughts general I guess.

I love space. Almost every aspect of it. I bought myself binoculars recently and I just can't stop looking at the sky whenever the clouds clear up. I don't know why, it's just a bunch of glimmering dots, but when you think about the vastness of what you see there, the mysteries it hides it sparkles something inside me. Perhaps it also makes me realize how small we are and how short lived we are, like that famous picture, a pale blue dot.

What we are, but just a tiny droplet in a huge ocean called space time?

What creeps me out about space and ultimately everything is that it exists. Wouldn't nothing be easier than all of this? If we apply Occam's razor on the universe, wouldn't nothing be more logical? I'm sure I'm talking nonsense here, but the fact there are things rather than there is nothing is truly frightening for me. Nothing just seems more reasonable.

It's usually questions like this that make people question the meaning of life. While everyone is given a particular role in life that helps it progress, the ultimate reason for why anything exists is something that even modern science is still attempting to solve.

I don't think meaning is within the scope of scientific inquiry.
Isn't meaning ultimately a fantasy we should take it seriously?

Life is just a bug spark in an absent minded demiurge's experiment. Just a bug in his latest diorama. He's a nice guy though so when you die, you spawn into a room with a full brain access assistant and you can get hooked to a reality of your choice. The only problem is the system running this can also present eventual bugs. In fact the demiurgue himself is not sure if he's also not a bug himself inside somebody else's project. His latest tests are inconclusive. Meanwhile your full brain access assistant seems to be generating some problems...

A desparate search for a method of thinking itself to death.
