Friction would stop the magnet from spinning. Both from air and surface. Magnet would not generate enough electricity to keep itself spinning. No idea whether it would work in 0g environment. Perhaps there is something that'd prevent it.

Wizard, trust me, you're the first one to think of this. There were million of people before you who thought they can break the laws of physics. You can't. Not this way, anyway. Ask a professional engineer about this and he will explain you in detail why it's not possible. I suck at electricity.
